For transporting simple report programs, one can use copy/paste. However, this only works in simplistic cases. For example, if you develop a simple Dynpro report and set custom text for the input parameters, this will not be preserved by the copy/paste method. If you create a custom table for your program, that will also have to be created by hand, as likewise for any custom domains, etc. used by the table. It only gets more complex from there. For any sizable development, you might need to take into account function modules, ABAP Objects, translations, etc. With SAPlink, you can import and export programs from SAP at will. SAPlink takes SAP from a copy-paste world to having a proper import/export tool for small developments without requiring complicated BASIS procedures.
