According to the latest McKinsey Global Survey, Bullish on Digital, 70 percent of Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) support digital initiatives, compared to 64 percent in 2012. The survey measured the responses of 850 C-suite executives. Of the 70 percent who said they supported digital initiatives, 37 percent said they are directly engaged in the initiatives or sponsor them, up from 32 percent in 2012. CEOs still lead the initiatives, with 63 percent directly engaged in the initiatives or sponsoring them.

These results can come in handy for employees looking to begin digital initiatives within their companies. So what are some topics you could begin discussing with your C-level executives on going digital?

The report shows five digital-enterprise trends:

  • • Big data and advanced analytics
  • • Digital engagement of customers
  • • Digital engagement of employees and external partners
  • • Automation
  • • Digital innovation

The survey also found that more companies are using big data or analytics tools to improve budgeting, forecasting and planning. Forty-six percent of respondents said so this year, compared to only 34 percent in 2012.
